With each coming day, the complications between PSG and Lionel Messi seem to be only increasing. He has recently served a week’s suspension over an unapproved trip. According to many fans and experts, including Thierry Henry, the suspension might have a dark underlying reason.

Immediately after winning the trophy, rumors of Messi not signing the extension emerged. He had already been booed in the stadium during matches, but recent developments have taken this apparent dislike PSG fanbase has for Messi to a whole new level. However, a French legend recently spoke about it criticizing the PSG fanbase.

PSG hasn’t been able to make fans happy recently. Every year, they fail to win their ultimate dream, the Champions League, although they win domestic ones. As a result, criticism against Lionel Messi has been constantly emerging. PSG fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with loud boos in matches. Of course, almost every team would do anything to have players like Messi and Neymar on their roster. Yet, the French powerhouse has nothing to show in their trophy cabinet apart from the league titles.

In an interview with Canal Supporters, the French legend condemned how the fans have treated one of the greatest players of this generation.

Lizarazu said, “I’m ashamed of the way we treat Messi. He is not having a disastrous season. He has scored 15 goals and provided 15 assists. Yes, since the World Cup, it went down, of course. But we are talking about the best, or one of the best players in history. We can’t treat him like an ordinary player.

He continued, “The problem in Paris is that most players are wasted. Apart from Mbappe, who always manages to perform, there are a lot of players who are spoiled by the context. So the problem is not the players, it’s the framework. This framework, this requirement that we must demand day-after-day consistency in the construction of the workforce. But that is not Messi’s fault. I think he deserves a little more respect.”
