Courtesy of his $536 million Al Nassr deal, Cristiano Ronaldo displaced Lionel Messi in the Forbes List of highest-paid athletes last year. Moreover, the said deal that spans over 2.5 years is also the biggest contract in soccer history. Anyhow, CR7’s mammoth contract is not the biggest in sporting history. MLB icon Shohei Ohtani boasts the biggest contract ever to be signed by an athlete. Ohtani inked a $700 million- 10-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. But for how long will the Al Nassr skipper play second fiddle? Not much, it seems.
According to Ariyadhiah, the Chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Al-Sheikh announced that Al Nassr will offer Cristiano Ronaldo, ‘The Biggest Sporting Project for an Athlete‘ in the next season. He has not announced the value of the supposed contract in the making. He also announced that the Authority for Entertainment will aid Al Nassr in developing a new stadium. These announcements came just before Al Nassr thrashed Inter Miami 6-0 in the Riyadh Season Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr contract runs till June 2025. Hence, per the Saudi chief’s announcement, CR7 will probably extend his contract with the club after next summer. That potential contract extension would perhaps see the Portuguese captain surpass the likes of Ohtani. Saudi’s move to facilitate CR7 with a mammoth deal is perhaps one in a series of moves to reward him, who committed his future to Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reaping the benefits of boldly staying committed to Al Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly told the Riyadh-based outfit earlier that he would like to renew his contract until 2027. He also added he will retire as an Al Nassr player after participating in the 2026 World Cup. In a move to honor this commitment, Al Nassr extended the player’s housing contract for another year after it expired in January. Shortly after that came Turki Al-Sheikh’s announcement of the mammoth CR7 project in the making. Meanwhile, CR7’s commitment to Al Nassr and the Saudi soccer project is surprising and worthy of rewards.
