The footprints of yesteryear still remain, but this time they are coming back to haunt Manchester United. It’s been a little more than a year since Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United. The club has managed to perform decently in the last season despite his departure. But the current season has been a disappointment. Therefore, the Red Devils were criticized by former English players for their commitment.

Manchester United have not been able to press the accelerator for this year’s season. In spite of signing some reputed players, the club sits sixth on the table. But the persistence of Erik ten Hag has now started people to think about what Ronaldo said last year.

Despite regular below-par performances, the coach is still motivated to not give up. However, the team is dealing with on-field and off-field issues. These multiple concerns for Manchester United currently could be related to what Cristiano Ronaldo said, claims Lianne Sanderson on TalkSPORT. Sanderson said, “Clearly, the club has a problem, and I hate to say it, but everything Cristiano Ronaldo said a year ago is actually reality. So as much as Cristiano shouldn’t have probably said it in the way that he did, he’s not lying; he was spitting straight facts.”

When asked about whether ten Hag was handling the situation well, including the Jadon Sancho issue, Sanderson claimed that players were not playing for him, which can only lead to the downfall of the team, and there is a clear problem. The former Arsenal player claimed all these things prove Ronaldo to be right.

Sanderson also claimed that Ronaldo would have sounded harsh, but he loved the club and hence spoke out. Earlier, Ronaldo said that the club was not in a good situation and that the young players were not disciplined. Ronaldo also said that he lost trust in Ten Hag and did not respect him.

Manchester United’s issues pointed out by Sanderson

Sanderson said that despite the issues, Manchester United cannot keep sacking managers. She also said that the players are not giving their best to the team. Marcus Rashford, who scored 30 goals for the club last season, has scored only one here. Sanderson mentions that the players who are with the club are reaching nowhere.

Manchester United’s summer transfers were also criticized, as Mason Mount has not yet scored this season. Overall, the club seems to be in a problem, according to the expert.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
