The soccer veteran recently revealed that she was ‘unfazed’ by his comments.
Back then, there was a big controversy going on between the two of them. Rapinoe had declined the invitation to the White House which caused a major uproar. Years later, the soccer veteran wondered whether Trump was her ‘secret admirer’.

Rapinoe reveals that Donald Trump’s words did not affect her
Megan Rapinoe recently appeared on Glenn Doyle’s ‘We Can Do Hard Things’ podcast. During the episode, they discussed various aspects of her career. Rapinoe has been an inspiration for millions on and off the pitch. In the last few years, she has wholeheartedly fought for women’s equality in the sport, especially in terms of pay. She has also stood against racial inequality.
In short, there is a lot to discuss about her career. But in 2019, something different happened. Even though she won the World Cup, Rapinoe was having a feud with Donald Trump. She had refused the chance to visit the White House after winning the World Cup. Trump then posted a reply to her decision on Twitter and the controversy caught fire further.

Regarding all of that, Rapinoe recently quoted, “Jokes on me. I don’t know anything. I even just looked back to 2019. And all that happened in that tournament and the President of the United States literally hate tweeting our team and me personally. And we just being like generally unfazed by it”. In the end, the USWNT lifted the Women’s World Cup, but Rapinoe still didn’t go to the White House.
That controversy isn’t in the limelight anymore. But the USWNT legend recently made another interesting statement. She wondered whether Trump was her ‘secret admirer’.

Megan Rapinoe has an interesting theory on Donald Trump
Rapinoe recently presented an eye-opening theory. She said, “You know he was watching that game”. She said this in reference to the 2019 FIFA World Cup game during which she did the iconic ‘outstretched arms’ celebration. That gesture was a response to the criticism that she received from Trump. She continued, “You know he had his McDonald’s lined up. And he was probably like, ‘You know what, I love that’”.

“I always felt Trump loved me”, she concluded. Rapinoe has always had several supporters and followers along the way. In response to her declining the White House invitation, one of her former teammates also made a comment. Allie Long said, “Duuuuude, this is so crazy. You’re a G. You took down the President”. Undoubtedly, the USWNT star is responsible for major changes in the world of women’s soccer.
