Premier League side West Ham United finished last season on a high when the Hammers were crowned the Europa Conference League champions after beating Fiorentina in the finals. After winning their first major trophy in 43 years, much was expected from David Moyes and his side this year. However in the pre-season so far, they have been disappointing, to say the least.

West Ham’s pre-season started with star midfielder Declan Rice joining Arsenal for a record $133 million sale. After recuperating a huge profit and having a number of reinforcements required in multiple positions, many expected West Ham to make good use of the record sale. Shockingly so far, they haven’t made a single purchase yet.

Now imagine West Ham on top of this privilege winning the Conference League and Declan Rice sale money. They should ideally be plush with cash right? Yes, they are but have they made any signings to strengthen their squad with this money? Surprisingly no.

For a side brimming with potential, having a gigantic sum of money and not utilizing it properly is horrific. The fact that West Ham has not signed a single player is shambolic, to say the least. However, it is not like the Hammers aren’t bidding for anyone.

Their bids are either being hijacked [Borjes to Ajax] or being met with a hefty price by clubs [James Ward Prowse – Southampton] thanks to everyone’s knowledge of West Ham’s surplus resources. While it is commendable that West Ham aren’t willing to overpay, they also must realise that time is passing away quickly.
