Over the years, Cristiano Ronaldo has single-handedly carried the Portuguese National Team to glory on several occasions. Now that the team has a great crop of young talents and CR7 is getting older, the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner’s presence in the team is increasingly coming under scrutiny. To make things worse for him, Cristiano’s touted successor now has a better goal-scoring record for the National team than him.

Ever since Goncalo Ramos broke into the Portuguese National Team, the PSG striker has delivered all-round performances consistently. From his linkup play to finishing, the striker has been extremely reliable. His constant performances have now seen him usurp CR7 as he has the best goal-scoring ratio for the National Team currently for a striker.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 was a tough campaign for Cristiano Ronaldo on a personal level. Apart from witnessing his arch-rival Messi lift the World Cup; the Al Nassr star also got benched by Goncalo Ramos in Portugal’s crucial knockout owing to his poor outings. Ever since, Ramos, who had been knocking on the door with his performances has been higher up the pecking order.

Ahead of Portugal’s Euro qualifiers against Luxembourg, Ramos appeared in the pre-match conference. At the conference, the striker was informed that he has a better goals-per-minute ratio [57′] than CR7 [79′] for the National Team. This revelation flattered him as he had no idea. However, the PSG star didn’t let it get to his head as he responded to the achievement with humility and grace.

After talking about his achievement, the Portuguese striker then delved into the role CR7 has played in his growth. The former Benfica striker revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has a very supportive nature towards all his teammates.
