Despite Wanting to End Career at West Ham, Jarrod Bowen Admits Childhood Fandom for Manchester United and David Beckham

Almost all soccer players right now will be familiar with the vintage Manchester United that steamrolled past opponents. The love-hate relationship between the fans and the rivals, the colossal achievements, and the popularity dominated the world’s soccer stories. One recent surprise was when West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen confessed to liking Manchester United, thanks to David Beckham, despite claiming to retire from his club. 

The Red Devils are the most successful team after the emergence of the English Premier League, and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen loves the soccer club to the core. He recently confessed his love for the legendary number in an interview.

Out of the many surprises last season, West Ham winning the conference league was one of them. The club won its first major trophy in 2012, and Bowen played a crucial part in their success. Yet, he confessed his fondness for Beckham since he donned the United jersey.

According to a tweet on X, Bowen said, “The team I grew up supporting? #mufc. I loved David Beckham.”

In the last couple of years, Bowen, along with new Arsenal signing Declan Rice, assisted the Hammers to succeed in Europe. The player joined the Hammers in January 2020, scoring 33 goals in three and half years for the club in the Premier League. However, his most celebrated moment came after winning Man of the Match in the UEFA Conference League final in Prague.

 

West Ham has been up and down in the Premier League for a few years. After its takeover by a new owner in 2010, the team was relegated once but bounced back immediately in the next season. Thus, Jarrod Bowen helped them forward, although he could probably replace Antony on the right wing at Manchester United. Such are his performances for West Ham that will make Beckham proud.

Who doesn’t love David Beckham?

The Manchester United team during David Beckham’s tenure was a brutal force. Apart from in-game performances, the star attracted brands for collaborations and partnerships, taking soccer to unparalleled heights. Bowen confessed to even imitating the Inter Miami owner by flaunting a mohawk like Beckham when growing up.

His two vital corner kicks in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final proved significant in setting up the goals that won them the trophy.
