It can be very demanding for a star player like Kylian Mbappe to handle the pressure during the World Cup. Several experts and fans labeled the forward a selfish player before the World Cup began. But, in the latest Netflix documentary, national team boss Didier Deschamps quashed the claims and called him a team player.

It is also one of the reasons why the gaffer announced him as the new captain after the disappointment of the World Cup final. He will now hope to repay the trust with goals and trophies.

Didier Deschamps comes in defense of Kylian Mbappe amid selfish claims

Some of them called him a selfish player for taking it on himself to score the goals. Many also believed that the 25-year-old forward thought about his achievements and not the team.

But, in the latest Netflix documentary, his national team manager, Didier Deschamps, quickly dismissed the claims. He said, “I don’t think people have the right perception of Kylian Mbappe. On the pitch, he takes things into his own hands. But that doesn’t mean he’s selfish. Though he is an attacker, he always thinks about the team. Just by his actions, he’s a driving force. But he depends on his teammates.”

Kylian Mbappe became the driving force for the team in the World Cup. He scored eight goals in seven matches in the tournament. These goals include the hat trick in the final against Argentina. But, unfortunately, that ended up in a losing clause. Despite losing the final on penalties, some experts praised the effort of Mbappe because he helped his team fight back from 2 to 0 down to 3-3.

It shows that the star forward likes to lead the team with his actions on the field. Hence, fans of the France national team will again have high hopes for him in the upcoming Euros tournament.

Mbappe will have an added responsibility in the Euros 2024 tournament
