While he never played alongside ‘Golden Balls’, fans often saw him as the successor of the Manchester United veteran. However, at the age of 28, he decided to call it quits before he could have unlocked his potential. Fans to this day are skeptical and in shock about what happened. ‘The Next David Beckham’ on leaving soccer

A couple of years back, David Bentley had an interview with The Athletic. He talked about his days in soccer and what made him leave the sport. He revealed that leaving the sport had less to do with money and more with his interest and love for the sport running out.

During the interview, he said, “I’ve got more money than when I started. If I’ve got £100, I’m alright. I loved football, but then it ran its course.” Former Tottenham star Stephen Carr also joined him and said, “As a coach, you’re in early and home late, so you need to have a real desire and hunger. If you don’t love it enough, you should never get into it.”
