Erik ten Hag addressed the media before Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United. During the press conference, when the manager was asked to justify his team’s performance against Coventry, the Dutchman had a meltdown as he bashed the journalists in the room. The United boss stated, “The reaction, the comments after the Coventry game. That was a disgrace. That was embarrassing from you. It is the comments. Top football is about results. We made it to a final, and we deserved it not only by this game but also the other games.”

Notably, it is not the first time Erik ten Hag has lost control over his emotions during a press conference. The Manchester United boss stormed out of the media scrum following the clash against Bournemouth earlier this month after being questioned about his team putting on one of their weakest campaigns this season.

It wouldn’t be a mistake to say that the Dutchman is on borrowed time at Manchester United. The Red Devils are currently 7th in the standings with just 15 wins from their 32 outings. Erik ten Hag’s side has already suffered 12 defeats in the league campaign. It is the joint highest for any United team in the club’s history. The poor string of results has raised questions over the Dutchman’s qualifications, with fans urging the board to show him the door.

However, Manchester United still has hopes with the Dutchman, with the manager avoiding the sack. While this is surprising in its own right, it surely cannot go on for long! The latest reports suggest the board is slowly losing confidence in the manager after his recent antics. The team has also been linked with Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel to take over the helm at Old Trafford. With everything going around, it will be interesting to see if Erik ten Hag can hold on to his job at the end of the season.
