Stefan Ortega makes a surprising ‘technical’ claim on Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland is currently looking to make up for lost ground after losing the Ballon d’Or race. The Manchester City striker will now hope to find success with his club like last season. However, amid all this, his Manchester City teammate Stefan Ortega has made a stunning claim about Haaland’s soccer ability that should surprise every soccer fan.

In his interview with 11FREUNDE, Stefan Ortega speaking on Erling Haaland, said, “Erling Haaland is not the best footballer in the Manchester City team, technically speaking. He is simply an incredible striker. There can be six defenders around him in the penalty area – he will still score. There is this greed…” 

These words for Haaland will surprise many as he helped Ortega and the rest of his City teammates win the treble last season, including the Champions League glory. Even if one were to assume that Haaland’s technical side of the game wasn’t the strongest in the squad, he undoubtedly makes up for it with his presence of mind and lethality in the box.

Haaland has plenty of goals to cover up for his lack of technical abilities

Manchester City does have a lot of brilliant technical players like Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and even Haaland’s attacking partners Jeremy Doku and Julian Alvarez. However, for his lack of abilities, Erling Haaland has scored plenty of goals in his first season and this season too. Haaland does depend on scoring goals inside the opposition box.

He has scored 65 goals in 68 games for Manchester City. This means he is currently averaging almost a goal per game. So, Ortega’s rest of the quotes make sense. Haaland will score irrespective of the number of defenders in the penalty area. This also makes him one of the best strikers in the soccer world.
