Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland are two of the most exciting young players in soccer. In an era where elite number nines are hard to come by, Mbappe has been on Madrid’s radar for more than two seasons now. But after Jude Bellingham’s big-money move from Dortmund, and PSG slapping a mammoth price on the striker, a move for the Frenchman could not materialise. 

Earlier this year, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti completely ruled out the possibility of the 24-year-old joining the club. Surprisingly, the president of the Spanish club has now acknowledged that there is a dire need for a long-term striker at the Bernabeu, and he has chosen between Haaland and Mbappe.

As reported by Fichajes.com Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has clarified that the club wants to sign Mbappé when the time is right. He believes the French striker is the optimal choice for the the club. As Karim Benzema left for Saudi Arabia, Los Blancos will look to recruit a top striker in the summer of 2024. And they would always prefer that striker to be Mbappe and not Haaland. At the moment, Joselu is filling the space, but that is treated just as a temporary solution.

Mbappé was close to joining the club back in 2022, but he unexpectedly renewed his contract with PSG. On the other hand, the Norwegian soccer star is in his second season at Manchester City. At present, it seems that Mbappe will make his big move to Real Madrid next summer for free. Passing on the mantle, after winning the Ballon d’Or Award for the eighth time, soccer legend Lionel Messi shared his thoughts about the tremendous growth of these two stars

Lionel Messi has great faith in the potential of the young strikers

Many fans believed that Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappé deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. Nonetheless, it was ultimately the World Cup winner who beat them both. After receiving the award, Lionel Messi had nothing but praise for his two young rivals. The Argentine superstar predicted that they would both win the Ballon d’Or in the future, as they are truly capable of replicating similar feats.

Messi expressed admiration for Erling Haaland’s debut season with City, guiding the Blue side of Manchester to their first ever Champions League title, and scoring a whopping 52 goals while doing so. Similarly, he also appreciated Mbappe for showcasing his talent during the FIFA World Cup, reitertating that the French forward is one of the best players in the world.
