International superstar Shakira has been through a rollercoaster of emotions in the past few months. This has been the case since her breakup with Gerard Pique on June 4th, 15 months ago. While Shakira has been navigating through a rough phase in her personal life there are also some lingering regrets for the Colombian singer. One of the biggest regrets she has is not being able to raise her kids, Sasha and Milan with their father.

Nonetheless, the headlines surrounding her these days are dominated by her recent awe-inspiring performance at the MTV VMAs. She not only wowed the audience with her performance but also took home two major accolades; the Best Collaboration and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Shakira wanted to ‘overcome obstacles’ with Gerard Pique

Following her well-deserved triumph at the MTV VMAs, the Latin singer sat down for an interview with Billboard. During this candid conversation, she was asked a range of questions about her personal and professional life, including her breakup with Pique. When asked if she would view her breakup with Pique in a more positive light in the future, Shakira responded with a poignant question of her own, “Like a blessing in disguise?” 

She then went on to express her heartfelt sentiments. “I think that nothing can compensate for the pain of destroying a family,” the 46-year-old added. ” Of course, I have to keep going for my children’s sake; that’s my greatest motivation”. Shakira then went on to reveal her deepest regret which is not being able to fulfill her biggest dream.

The pop sensation stated: “But my biggest dream, more than collecting platinum albums and Grammys, was to raise my sons with their father. Overcome obstacles and grow old together. I know I’m not getting that now”. It is evident that Shakira’s desire to create a stable and loving environment for her children is a top priority for her.

Since the breakup, Shakira has won custody of their children and made the decision to move to Miami. The Barcelona legend on the other hand remained in Barcelona with his girlfriend Clara Chia Marti and only gets to spend time with his kids for a stipulated period of time. This undoubtedly adds to the challenges of co-parenting their kids and to the dreams of Shakira. Additionally, the former couple still has disagreements, which hasn’t helped to make things better.

The former couple is in dispute again

The breakup between Gerard Pique and Shakira has been a messy ordeal. However, a few weeks back, the ex-couple managed to come to an agreement regarding Pique’s involvement in their children’s lives. Unfortunately, it appears that this peace was short-lived. Recent reports suggest they are facing another dispute concerning their kids’ Christmas vacation.

As mentioned previously, while Shakira has custody of the children, Pique has visitation rights every ten days. With the holiday season approaching, conflicts arose due to conflicting school vacation schedules in Spain and the United States. Consequently, their respective legal teams engaged in discussions to establish specific dates for these vacations. All this dispute only adds to the mother of two’s regrets.
