Club soccer is back after the World Cup, with most of the top leagues in Europe kicking off. The World Cup stars have returned to their respective clubs, while few are still on vacation. However, the French and Atletico Madrid superstar, Antoine Griezmann, has caught the eyes of the fans with the new look. Fans have started comparing him to the USWNT superstar who once asked the French star to take inspiration from LeBron James. 

Griezmann has returned to his club after a disappointing loss to Argentina in the World Cup final. The one-time FIFA World Cup started last night for Atletico in the La Liga game against Elche. Not only his performance on the field but his hairstyle too made the headlines.

Griezmann has returned from the World Cup with a new hairstyle, and fans think it resembles what Megan Rapinoe once had. He featured in the World Cup with blonde hair but returned to the club with new pink dyed hair. Griezmann didn’t waste time on the vacation despite going the furthest in the World Cup and returning to the Madrid club.

French star inspired Atletico Madrid in the first game after the break to victory against Elche CF. Griezmann looked to continue his form from the World Cup and provided assists on both goals by Atletico.

Racism has been one of the biggest blots in the sport. Sports stars are always subject to racist abuse most of the time for their performances on the field. Many sports stars like LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Megan Rapinoe have come forward and started the fight against racism.

Rapinoe, back in 2021, while speaking to RMC, urged soccer superstars like Lionel Messi, Ronaldo, Griezmann, and others to speak against racism. Rapinoe said, “When you see the commitment of certain athletes against racism like Serena Williams or LeBron James, it’s important that people like Rashford, Messi, Griezmann, Ronaldo get involved too as people will listen to them. They’re global role models.”

However, Griezmann once stood against the issue when his teammate at FC Barcelona was subject to racial abuse. It will take tremendous efforts from many soccer and sports stars to eradicate racism. The governing authorities need to take drastic steps to support the efforts of athletes.
