At the start of the season, famous jockey Frankie Dettori announced that he would retire at the end of this season. The 53-year-old has now revealed why he took such a reason. He has mentioned that the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2022 World Cup was also a factor behind the decision.

He said, “At the beginning of the season, I was like I am 52. I watched Ronaldo at the World Cup starting on the bench, I didn’t want it to end like that. So I thought I’d call it quits and when I call it a day things will ease up.”

He added, “But the opposite happened, wherever I went I kept on winning. I did my farewells and I kept on winning and winning, and I thought ‘Am I doing the right thing?'” After his continuous success, however, Frankie Dettori decided to not act on those plans.

He will now continue his career to the 2024 season. There is also a chance that it could go beyond the next season. Meanwhile, after the disappointment of not starting games at the World Cup, Ronaldo decided to leave Manchester United. Many thought it to be the end of his playing career. It, however, seems that the phenomenon that is Cristiano Ronaldo is not done.
