Together: Treble Winners is out on Netflix and the documentary paints a tale of what happened behind the scenes in Manchester City‘s greatest-ever season. However, fans hoping for some intrigue and spice from a typical Netflix offering are bound to be disappointed. The series, shot by City’s media team opted for a playful approach as the focus is more on the players. This means, there is no mention of Joao Cancelo’s unceremonious exit or the elephant in the room, the 115 FFP charges on the club.

It’s been more than a year since the Premier League handed Manchester City 115 breaches of the financial rules from 9 seasons (2019-2018). In the said period, the club has won 3 league titles, 3 league cups, and an FA Cup, and these titles are all under investigation. The charges against the club include accusations of not disclosing accurate financial information concerning revenue and operating costs. The club is also under the scanner for not providing managerial remuneration details during Mancini’s time in charge.

Furthermore, Manchester City was also alleged to have broken the league’s Profit and Sustainability rules across three seasons (2015/16-2017/18).  However, the treble winners have always claimed to have followed the regulations. As such, they have appointed Lord David Pannick KC, one of the country’s finest lawyers, to defend their position.

Yet, the amusing aspect is that despite a year after being accused, Manchester City is yet to have their first court hearing. Perhaps, that could explain the absence of the subject in the documentary.

The situation is the same regarding Joao Cancelo’s transfer to Bayern Munich. The move was abrupt and there were rumours of a rift between the player and Pep Guardiola. While Manchester City is yet to reveal what happened, recently some key details have emerged on the same.
