Things have taken a rough turn for former soccer star Dani Alves. The former Barcelona star is currently imprisoned in Spain after being placed in pre-trial detention. Alves was detained by the authorities after the star was accused of assault. However, Alves has vehemently denied the accusations and has claimed he is not guilty. The soccer star has now faced a massive setback before the trial, as his ex-wife Dinorah Santana refused to help the player any longer.

In a recent interview, Santana had harsh words for her former husband as she commented that she didn’t want to be involved in anything related to her former husband. Alves has been behind bars for more than seven months now and is yet to receive a date for his court trial.

Former Barcelona star Dani Alves has received a massive setback from his ex-wife, who has decided to stop supporting her ex-husband. During an interview, Dinorah Santana touched down on her relationship with the soccer star. Santana also noted that she had tried helping her former husband, but he was just using her for his benefit.

“He doesn’t exist for me. He’s dead. I’ve always kept my head down. I’ve never caused any controversy, I’ve never made any scandals. I want him to disappear from my life. I don’t know what he’s capable of. Why am I defending him? Why do I show my face?” (Complied by O Jogo | Translated using DeepL).

Dani Alves was accused of sexual assault back in December 2022. The player was reported to have forced himself on the victim on December 30th at Barcelona nightclub Sutton. Since the accusations, Alves has denied the allegations, claiming he was offended by the accusation and pleads not guilty.

Alves could face a long prison sentence

The former Brazilian soccer star was indicted by a Spanish judge in the sexual assault case leveled against him in 2022. Back in August, a judge claimed that had enough evidence against Alves to open a legal trial against the player. Alves and his lawyers have decided to go ahead with the trial as they remain confident of clearing his name.

Following his induction, Dani Alves’ lawyers issued a public statement claiming the player would support the law process. The soccer star is currently behind bars, with the court declaring him a flight risk. The Brazilian has agreed to submit his passport and wear a tracking ankle band to help the authorities.
