A year ago, Kylian Mbappe was on top of the world. The Frenchman was along with Lionel Messi, the best player in the FIFA World Cup 2022. However, his second half of the season at PSG was not as impressive. His dip in form coincided with a poor Champions League run for the French side. With rumors of a potential Real Madrid move, Kylian Mbappe has been advised to clarify his future in an attempt to regain the support of fans, who do not seem amused with the Frenchman’s situation.

The PSG superstar had an eventful start to this season as he was removed from the first-team training after refusing to extend his contract. However, was reinstated into the squad and is now the top scorer in the Ligue 1. With his contract ending in 2024, PSG fans are rightly concerned about the future of their prized asset. Mbappe’s deafening silence throughout all this doesn’t help the matter at all, claims Daniel Riolo.

Soccer journalist Daniel Riolo gave his thoughts on Kylian Mbappe following his incredible World Cup. He said, (translated via DeepL), “Since then, in my eyes, it’s been a downfall. Not a footballing downfall, because he’s continued to score goals, but he’s had just about the worst second half of the season with PSG.” Riolo also recognized that PSG mishandled the situation in the summer when the star was exiled from first-team training.

He gave his opinion on the matter. Riolo explained, “I think it’s more the club that’s screwed up than him, but he’s never said a word. He hasn’t spoken for a year now. Even with the French national team, he hasn’t spoken in the last few games, even though he’s captain”, as per RMC Sport. The pundit added that Kylian Mbappe seems to be afraid of ‘being questioned’.

It seems like Daniel Riolo wants the lethal striker to clarify his situation to the fans soon. Else, as per the expert, the PSG attacker could be greeted with whistles in January, as he enters the final 6 months of his contract. Not the happiest of circumstances for the man lauded as the nation’s favorite sportsman, a year back.

The Frenchman had a highly publicized transfer to Real Madrid that failed two years ago. Could Kylian Mbappe and his team be working in silence this time around?

As per recent news, Madrid wanted the Frenchman in January and gave him a two-week deadline to decide his future. In fact, it was even reported that Nasser Al-Khelaifi would meet with the superstar in January for crunch talks. Furthermore, PSG reportedly delayed the talks due to the UCL group matches which have now concluded.

With Luis Enrique offering him complete freedom, the attacker is the main cog in PSG’s game plan. However, he will have a decision to make since Real Madrid reportedly has Erling Haaland as a Kylian Mbappe alternative. With Los Blancos lacking a world-class striker, the phone call to the Manchester City headquarters might be more tempting for the Madrid hierarchy after the entire Madrid-Mbappe saga.
