The world of soccer expresses its sorrow for Spanish soccer icon Luis Suárez, who passed away at the age of 88. Several players and soccer clubs stepped forward to pay tribute to the former Barcelona and Inter Milan midfielder. Interestingly, the former owner of Nerazzurri Club recently revealed Luis’s plans to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Italy.

Massimo Moratti, the former owner of Inter Milan, talked about Suarez’s great legacy after his demise. While talking about the legendary midfielder’s accomplishments for Inter, Moratti confronts about ignoring Luis’s advice to purchase Ronaldo. Indeed, Cristiano Ronaldo signing to Inter Milan could have turned the soccer world upside-down.

Why Massimo Moratti didn’t pick Cristiano Ronaldo?

While paying his respect for Luis Suarez, Massimo talked about all the legendary players’ achievements for Inter Milan. Moratti also mentions that Luis contributed a lot to the Nerazzurri Club’s success. He further talks about Luis’s phenomenal performance at Barcelona which persuaded the club to hire the former Spain legend.

Besides talking about the soccer legend’s accomplishments, Moratti reveals Luis’s advice to purchase Ronaldo. While talking with Sky Sport, Massimo mentions, “He advised me Ronaldo, the second (Cristiano, ed.), and I didn’t listen to him because he cost too much. His advice was right.”

By Moratti’s words, it appears Inter, worth nearly $1,020,000,000, was interested in signing Ronaldo. Despite Luis’s advice on Ronaldo, Moratti couldn’t go through with the suggestion because of the Portuguese star’s immense cost back then. However, he did mention that Luis’s advice was right and the transfer could have benefited the club.

The demise of former Spanish Ballon d’Or winner, Luis Suarez, shocked the soccer world. Within hours, the former owner of Inter Milan paid his respect to Luis and all his contributions to the club’s success. He talked about the legendary midfielder’s glory days at Barcelona and Inter Milan.

He also mentions the friendly relations and moments he spent with the soccer legend. Massimo also reveals that after Luis’s transfer to Inter, the club’s performance drastically changed.

Moratti said, ” He was sincere and outspoken, as a cheerful character and had a very strong personality. He knew how to make a group, he was a point of reference for all the Inter boys: when he arrived he had twice the salary of the others, but no one dared to say anything and they considered him very fair.”
