However, long before this, the gossip mills went into overdrive when Gomez was linked with Brooklyn Beckham. The Peltz and Beckham pair have been long-time friends with Gomez, who had once been rumored to be romantically involved with Brooklyn in 2017.

It all began on a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. The host asked Gomez a fan question, in which the pop star was asked about the rumor of Brooklyn Beckham dumping his ex, actress Chloë Grace Moretz, to be with Gomez.

Gomez was quite surprised and seemed taken aback by the question. She replied to the host, asking, “How old is he? Isn’t he 16?” Brooklyn Beckham was indeed 16 at the time. Gomez further asserted that she was concerned about the age gap and that people should understand that it should not be a surprise.

“I know I look 16 but I’m actually 23; like no!” she said. This was enough to bring the gossip mills to a screeching halt and completely cut off the connection between the two. Over time, the trio’s bond just kept getting stronger and stronger. Friendly outings marked the beginning of the blossoming three-way friendship which, according to them, is a ‘throuple’.

It all started with a comment from Nicola Peltz talking about the closeness of the trio. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Peltz said, “We’re like, ‘Yeah, we are a throuple’. We are all three best friends”. Then Selena Gomez showed her nod to these comments. An Instagram post between the three celebrities caught attention, with Gomez captioning them with “Fine, call us a throuple,” confirming Peltz’s previous comments.

Following that, during a discussion, David Beckham’s eldest child detailed how the couple has come together with superstar Selena Gomez. “[Gomez] said we’re a throuple,” they said. “She’s such a sweet girl and I love when my wife makes new friends like this–plus, everyone gets along great”.
