As of today, Shakira is possibly the best Latin American music artist of all time. Year after year, she consistently composed hit after hit songs. Before her diss track saga with Gerard Pique in recent times, she used to dominate the music billboards back in the day. But things have just gotten better for her with time. In a recent interview, she spoke about the highest price that she had to pay for her career in the past.
Mainly, she was referring to the 2010 phase during which she was at her career’s peak. While traveling all across the globe, she met the love of her life Gerard Pique during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

What highest price did Shakira have to pay for her career?
Over the years, Shakira has garnered a very diverse fanbase. That is simply because she was always interested in exploring different genres of music. She could only do that because she used to uncontrollably travel all across the globe for work purposes. In a recent exclusive interview with El Pais, the Latin American singer spoke about the ‘highest price’ she paid for her career.
Here’s what she said, “I was a nomad, a person without roots or stability. I have traveled at such an intense pace that I have been in three countries in the same day. It is one of the highest prices I have had to pay for my career”, as translated by Google Translate. Around that time, she had also met Pique after completing her ever-famous ‘Sale el sol’ tour.

She sounded quite happy while speaking about that phase of her life. That was also the time during which she became a judge on The Voice US. She then quoted, “Those years I was breaking it worldwide with my music. I was everywhere, I lived on a plane more than any pilot”.
Interestingly, even after her breakup with Gerard Pique, she has still managed to keep her career on an upward trend. In recent months, she discovered how she can publicly vent about her tragic emotional split through her passion for music. Here’s more about it.
Shakira’s breakup with Pique helped the singer rediscover herself
Gerard Pique and Shakira always seemed like the perfect couple. They met in 2010 and went on to date for more than a decade. But the fanbase was quite furious with the FC Barcelona legend after the infidelity saga came to the forefront. The Colombian icon took a short break from composing music after parting ways with Gerard Pique in 2022. At that time, everyone thought that was the last of the singer.

But the Latin American star had other plans. She composed a diss track along with an Argentine DJ Bizarrap. Without a doubt, that diss track turned out to be one for the generations to hear. Five months since its release, the hard-hitting diss track is still garnering daily views on YouTube. Currently, the official music video is on 568 million views.
Honestly, Shakira is one of a kind. The world will never find another one.
