In the summer transfer window, Roberto Firmino was one of the European stars brought to the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ahli fans were excited with the prospect of him and Mahrez playing together in one team. However, the form quickly went downhill. This led to rumors that Firmino could leave in January for Europe or sign for another Saudi club. But, the Brazilian issued a powerful message to the fans. He said, I have a contract with Al-Ahly and I will fight to return to my true level, and after the hiatus, you will see the best version of Firmino.”

The break in the Saudi League will provide Roberto Firmino with more time to train well and focus on himself. He has scored only three goals for Al-Ahli in his first season. Hence, the former Liverpool striker will have to increase his goal contributions. Should his poor displays continue, he could certainly be sold next summer, without a doubt. The 32-year-old has performed below expectations. However, the truth is the Brazilian has also struggled with issues off the field which could be playing an active role as well.

It will take him and his family quite some time to recover from the loss of a person who inspired him to become the soccer player he is. Since then, he also lost his starting place in the line-up.

Al Ahli is currently third in the league table. It will be interesting to when he gets the opportunity to prove himself again. In the last few days, he was also linked to bottom-ranked Premier League side Sheffield United. This is because Prince Abdullah owns the club. However, a new managerial appointment at the Blades might alter its initial transfer plans.
