There is no doubt that Erik Ten Hag has brought some kind of stability to Manchester United. However, what is also certain is that the Red Devils boss has lost the plot in some of the signings he made with the club. A legend of the club has also blamed the Dutch coach for his several signings and mentioned he could have spent $100 million on a player like Neymar.

Notably, the 54-year-old was unable to make a signing because the club did not have any money left for the January transfer window. However, several of his signings do show the lack of impact they have made.

There have been hundreds of examples of new signings signed for huge money failing to perform the desired impact. Well, several of them still are playing for Manchester United. Players like Andre Onana, Rasmus Højlund, and Antony are examples of those who have struggled. The previous Golden Boy of United, Anderson, has blamed Erik Ten Hag for the poor decision-making on the transfers. He said, “Nowadays, small clubs go to play at Old Trafford and are not afraid. Today the club doesn’t know which coach it will put in place, who controls it, it’s a mess… Manchester sometimes hires very wrongly. If you’re going to pay 100 million for a player, pay for Neymar. Players who will make a difference. Manchester pays 70, 80, 90 million for players who have no logic.”

The comments against Erik Ten Hag come as the club remains 8 points off the top four this season. There have been several reports that minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is already searching for replacements. Jose Mourinho has also been linked to a return to the Red Devils. However, the 54-year-old has maintained that he has had positive conversations with the new ownership.

There is no doubt that Erik Ten Hag will have to aim for a top-four finish at least this season. As far as the signings are concerned, another United legend also called out the performances of the Brazilian winger.
