Wrexham AFC is that club that went beyond success to connect with the people. After coming under the new ownership, the third-oldest soccer club in the world became the most-talked club in lower-tier soccer. But the utmost care shown to the players by the club owners impressed its star striker, Ollie Palmer. However, citing this generosity of the owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the player called out the English media for being over-circumspect.

Speaking on the Elvis Duran Show, Palmer recently quashed all the apprehensive talk about the owners and called out the media for having the wrong notions. “I think you know, in England as well, people will always try to see the negative. That’s probably the one difference I’ve seen over here,” he stated when asked if Ryan and Rob were involved with the team’s welfare apart from the investment. The player feels a pessimistic approach towards entities exists in the British press, which was only proven wrong by the Wrexham owners.

He continued by saying that the two Hollywood stars are clear about their project, and their work is already visible. He said, “In England, it can be a little bit more, and the press can be on you, sticking knives in right. But no, they’re two-three years in now, and the intent is clear, you know. They’re here for the long run,” reiterating that it was not just an experiment by the American owners.

The club’s growth has been phenomenal over the last three years. Almost bankrupt, the Red Dragons were looking at the exit door of the National League before the new owners came. Their commitment to investing in the club, players, and fans has turned Wrexham into a rising star in English soccer.

Wrexham owner’s generous approach revealed by Ollie Palmer

Ollie Palmer joined Wrexham in 2022 and was an integral part of the team promotions in two seasons. He scored 16 goals in their National League Triumph and 7 in the current one. However, the star mentioned how Reynolds and McElhenney were supportive even when he wasn’t playing because of an injury earlier this year. Palmer stated that Ryan encouraged him by saying, “Keep going. I can’t wait to see you back out there.” Additionally, he also said that both owners were wholeheartedly involved with the team by taking care of all the needs.

The two film stars had a tough time dealing with critics in England. The media felt that their fire would get cold if disappointment crept in, and it was just their money that led them to invest in the club. Nevertheless, the players and the supporters seem to be in line with the owners’ vision. And with the success on all fronts, there seems to be no turning back for Wrexham.
