Ever since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami, his ex-teammate Luis Suarez was expected to follow suit. Well, it is not a rumor anymore. Inter Miami announced that the club signed the veteran Uruguayan forward as a free agent on Friday. In light of his move to Miami, Suarez terminated his deal with Brazil’s Gremio this month, despite having more than a year and a half left in his contract.

Now, with Suarez’s move, David Beckham and the Mas Brothers have facilitated a full-fledged Barcelona reunion. The Miami side now houses ex-Barca stars Messi, Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

According to Inter Miami, Luis Suarez has signed a one-year deal with the club. Moreover, the deal will give him the option to renew his contract after one year in 2025. The deal will see the Uruguayan take a substantial pay cut. However, the prospect of reuniting with Leo Messi might have prompted El Pistolero to conveniently snub the pay cut. When Jordi Alba joined Miami, he too had a similar fate. The veteran is rumored to earn $200,000 a year as a salary. The implications of the designated player rule are at the heart of this pay cut.

However, Luis Suarez is likely to fit in fine in the Miami roster, given his chemistry with the Argentine World Champion. Besides, a player of his stature is the need of the hour for Miami to amp up their offense. Leo Messi has anyhow made a decent strike partnership with the likes of Leonardo Campana and Facundo Farias. With El Pistolero’s addition, Inter Miami’s offense will indeed be a force to reckon with.
