Thierry Henry is in the news for all the wrong reasons

His former Barcelona teammate and anchor of the award show Thierry Henry received the award on his behalf. However, the French forward took a subtle dig at his fellow co-presenter Reshmin Chowdhury. As she was a Tottenham fan, Henry said he would take a trophy as Spurs have never really got hands on a trophy recently. The incident also attracted a reaction from Arsenal legend Ian Wright. He said,” I feel like it was a low blow that people didn’t like”.

Several fans especially the Tottenham fans criticized the comments of Thierry Henry on social media. However, the Arsenal fans loved the jibe on their arch-rivals made by their former forward. The former Gunners forward will hope that his comments don’t bite him back as both of the clubs are level on positions with 40 points in the Premier League.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will hope that he can win the trophy curse at the club. But as far as the FIFA Awards are concerned, Ian Wright was quite surprised that the Inter Miami star won it.

There were rumors that La Pulga was not attending the ceremony because Erling Haaland was going to win it. However, in the end, the 36-year-old did emerge as the winner. But, Ian Wright was not at all happy with the results. He said that even the opposition fans wanted Erling Haaland to win the award ahead for his brilliant last season. He also compared the loss of the Norwegian forward to that of Robert Lewandowski in 2019.

Wright was not the only one to criticize the win of Messi. USNMT legend Janusz Michallik also felt that the Manchester City star forward deserved to win the award over the Argentine.
