The Sky Blues had problems with interested clubs agreeing on terms to loan out Kalvin Philips. However, fortunately for City and the midfielder, West Ham has found the perfect key to the solution. They have agreed a deal in principle with the Premier League over a loan deal that will last till the end of the season. In a press conference ahead of the FA Cup game against Tottenham, Pep stated, “It’s not completely done. Hopefully, he can play the minutes he deserves and I couldn’t give to him. He’s an exceptional human being.”

According to reports, the Hammers will also have an option to buy him permanently at the end of the season for a fee of $50 million. West Ham United will also pay his full 140,000 pounds per week’s wages during the loan stint. The move will also benefit the ambitions of Kalvin Philips. The 28-year-old will get regular game time to strengthen his position in the England national team before the 2024 Euros kick off later this year.

Kalvin Philips will be aware that Pep Guardiola does not see him in his short and long-term plans. Hence, even if West Ham does not activate the option to buy him permanently, he needs to do well enough to attract the interest of other top clubs next summer.
