The January transfer window has been off to a slow start in terms of big spending. However, the one specific transfer that has grabbed the attention of experts and fans is Jordan Henderson to Ajax. After not settling well in Saudi Arabia, the England international is back in Europe. However, Dutch expert Marcel van der Kraan is not impressed with the timing of the move. He said, “When you look at this Ajax side, that’s the worst side in the history of the club. In a hundred years, the club was never at the bottom of the table. They were never knocked out of the cup by a bunch of students from an amateur side. They never had so many changes in history.”

The Dutch expert also pointed out that the only thing working for the former Liverpool midfielder is, he is now close to home. He also added the prospect of playing in the Eredivisie would have excited him. But, the sad reality is that Ajax is in trouble on the pitch. They are currently 5th on the table. It is an underachievement considering fans expect them to compete for the title.

Jordan Henderson will certainly hope that he can change the fortunes of the Dutch giants. As far as the response to the Ajax move is concerned, a PL legend has defended leaving Saudi Arabia after six months.
