Jose Mourinho Mocks Arsenal & Predicts Manchester City to Win the Premier League Over Liverpool

Manchester City is still going to win the Premier League. It is the notion even the best experts in soccer believe in. On the other hand, Arsenal, who is at the top of the table, is still the underdogs, according to Jose Mourinho. But what could be the reason for AS Roma’s coach to sideline the London team?

Manchester City has repeatedly dropped points this season. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Arsenal have been winning most of their games. As the competition seems to be more between Liverpool and Arsenal, Jose Mourinho still chose City as favorite for his specific reasons.

The Gunners have risen from last year’s disappointment after losing to Manchester City. But despite being at the pinnacle of the table, the former Chelsea coach undermined their chances. Jose Mourinho stated that Pep Guardiola’s team and Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will win this year’s English League. In a fresh episode of The Obi One podcast, when asked about his prediction about league winners, Mourinho said, “I would say Manchester City 51 and Liverpool 49.” When asked again if he doesn’t consider Arsenal, Mourinho said, “Nah,” without any hesitation. Yet, similar to City, Liverpool struggled to manage a victory yesterday.

They were held to a scoreless draw by archrivals Manchester United at Anfield yesterday. On the other end, Manchester City drew again, losing two points to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium. But still, the former Real Madrid coach downplayed Arsenal’s title ambitions. 

The 60-year-old also provided the reason for choosing Manchester City as a favorite. According to Jose Mourinho, the number of matches ahead might relieve some pressure off Manchester City, thanks to their stronger bench compared to other teams. Mourinho stated, “Because when the accumulation of matches are coming, Man City as two teams.” Additionally, he dismissed any other personal reasons for snubbing Arsenal.

The relationship between Arsenal and Jose Mourinho went beyond just being emotional. However, Mourinho denied that it interfered with his opinion and said he would like Arsenal to win.

The hard feelings already existed between the London teams (Chelsea and Arsenal), with Mourinho and Wenger peaking the rivalry amongst the fans. The most infamous spat between the two goes back to 2014 when Wenger went ahead and pushed Mourinho into Chelsea’s technical area.
