Lionel Messi could be part of his boyhood stadium

Newell’s Old Boys is currently in the process of constructing a new stand at their Marcelo Bielsa stadium. The club’s president, Ignacio Astore has revealed that they are considering naming the new stand after Messi. However, the decision will not be taken unilaterally by the club’s management.

Astore stated, “It may be that the new stand bears Messi’s name, but we are going to involve the members of that election, it will be through a platform”. This indicates that the decision to name the new stand after Messi will be left up to the club’s members and the company that is building the grandstand.
