Turns out, European giants are not the only ones that are eyeing hot-shot South American youngsters in the upcoming transfer window. David Beckham-owned Inter Miami is now going the extra mile to pair Argentine midfielder Cristian Medina with Lionel Messi and others. Medina has been a crucial midfield force for Boca Juniors since 2020 and has won major titles in the Argentine club outfit. Hence, bringing him in could phenomenally bolster the Herons squad. Anyhow, their pursuit of the 21-year-old is not going to be easy.

Boca Juniors is likely to hold the reins on the 21-year-old’s move, per reports. Furthermore, Brazil’s Botafogo is now rivaling Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the race to land the Argentine prodigy.

According to Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, Inter Miami has prepared a $7.5 million offer to Boca Juniors for Cristian Medina’s signing. Boca will surely reject it,” said Edul referring to Miami’s bid. The Argentine club is expected to say no, to ensure they retain star players in the squad for major upcoming competitions. Furthermore, Botafogo still holds a keen interest, despite Boca Juniors rejecting their prior bid. The Brazilian club is yet to come up with a new price for the youngster. Medina’s potential move is no easy one for Inter Miami like the Barcelona reunion. Interestingly, Cristian Medina had once chanced to train with Lionel Messi in an Argentina camp.

On the back of his heroics for Boca Juniors, Medina got called up to the Argentina squad before the World Cup qualifiers. Though he did not play a match for the senior team, he trained with Messi, Paulo Dybala, and Lautaro Martinez. Only time will tell if he can train with Messi in Miami. Till then, Boca Juniors is holding on to their star player. Besides, the youngster himself is having a decorated stint with the Buenos Aires-based team.

Cristian Medina’s achievements that make him a hot-shot target

Medina debuted for Boca Juniors in 2020, fresh off a South American Championship win with Argentina’s U-17 team. That year, he won the Argentinian Cup with Boca Juniors. Moreover, he has played 130 matches for Boca Juniors, tallying six goals and eight assists. The Argentine starlet has proved that he can be deployed as a central midfielder and a right midfielder. However, the player has made the best out of his stint as a central midfielder. A player like him will indeed make things easier for a veteran like Sergio Busquets in the Inter Miami midfield. But that remains a distant dream until Boca Juniors mildens its stance on star players, and Botafogo gives up on the race to sign Medina.
