Cristiano Ronaldo‘s new club Al Nassr have seen a meteoric rise in popularity globally since the Portuguese forward’s move from Manchester United earlier in January 2023. Al Nassr featured in the top 5 most followed clubs in the world, as we reported previously. This was after the SPL’s flurry of signings earlier in the 2023 summer transfer window that saw some of the biggest names in soccer move to Saudi Arabia. Now, according to reports in the Saudi Arabian media, European heavyweights Liverpool and Bayern Munich have offered to play Al Nassr next month.

Al Nassr reportedly had 157 million interactions on Instagram in August 2023 making them the 3rd most followed club worldwide. However, Bayern Munich and Liverpool’s bid to cash in on the Saudi club’s popularity by playing them has hit a roadblock as per recent reports.

Liverpool & Bayern Munich’s bid to play Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr rejected

According to a recent tweet on X by the Saudi media, English club Liverpool and Germany’s Bayern Munich wanted to play Al Nassr next month in November, but the plans have been rejected due to fixture congestion for the SPL club.

The tweet on X states, Liverpool and Bayern Munich request to play with #AlNassr next month. The request was rejected due to the pressure of matches.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr recently came off an impressive 3-1 victory over Tajakistan club Istiklol. This came after an Istiklol player fired shots at the Saudi club’s players calling them “bags of money”. However, Al Nassr’s talisman, Ronaldo, was on the scoresheet for Al Nassr once again.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores against Istiklol in AFC Champions League clash

Al Nassr played Istiklol in the AFC Champions League earlier this week. Istiklol’s Senin Sebai opened the scoring on the night to surprisingly put the Tajakistan club ahead just before half time.

Ronaldo then scored decisively to level the game in the 66th minute in what was an important goal for Al Nassr.This was Ronaldo’s first goal in the AFC Champions League.

Al Nassr’s Talisca then completed the comeback by scoring a brace after Ronaldo’s equalizer, bagging the 3 points for the Saudi club. Al Nassr have a 100% record in the AFC Champions League winning their first 2 games in the competition. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how far Ronaldo and Al Nassr go in the tournament and whether the Portuguese icon can lead the club to lift the trophy by the end of the competition.
