In August, the duo was seen hanging out on the Croatian Island. This led to immense speculation that Modric could depart from Spain and join the Herons. However, Luka Modric remained committed to the Spanish giants.

Carlo Ancelotti had cleared all the speculation, by saying, “He doesn’t want to leave. He thinks he’s an important player and we think the same.” However, the emergence of Jude Bellingham means Real Madrid has a new star in midfield, which makes Modric more dispensable for them. Perhaps, this is why they are willing to let go of the legendary midfielder.

Goran Vucevic, former sporting director at Al Nassr, recently revealed key details regarding the Saudi side’s failed pursuit of the midfielder. He said, “At Al-Nassr, we had several serious talks with Luka Modric, and we wanted to sign him. But, he told us that if Real Madrid offered him a new contract, he would stay.” Vucevic and his team even had a series of talks with the Croatian to convince him.
