Luka Modric had once said, “When you leave here (Real Madrid), nothing will be the same.” The Croatian magician who wowed Santiago Bernabeu for 12 years might finally be about to realize the depth of his words. It is looking increasingly likely that Real Madrid won’t be offering the veteran midfielder a contract. Hence, there have been reports that Inter Miami could be interested in bringing the Ballon d’Or winner on board. Interestingly, Lionel Messi seems to have played a key role in the proceedings.

The 38-year-old midfielder’s contract is up in June 2024. With Luka Modric not being in Madrid’s first-choice lineup this season, perhaps the Croatian could be open to a move away from Spain.

After several meetings, Lionel Messi is said to be keen to play alongside Luka Modric!

As per the latest reports, Inter Miami wants the legendary midfielder. In fact, it was revealed on Cadena SER that Modric had recently met club owner David Beckham. Moreover, it is also reported that Lionel Messi favors having the Croatian on the team. Notably, this is not the first time Modric and Beckham have caught up this summer. In August, the duo was seen hanging out on the Croatian Island. This led to immense speculation that Modric could depart from Spain and join the Herons. However, Luka Modric remained committed to the Spanish giants.

Carlo Ancelotti had cleared all the speculation, by saying, “He doesn’t want to leave. He thinks he’s an important player and we think the same.” However, the emergence of Jude Bellingham means Real Madrid has a new star in midfield, which makes Modric more dispensable for them. Perhaps, this is why they are willing to let go of the legendary midfielder.

However, Lionel Messi and Co. in Inter Miami is not the only club interested in the Croatian. Cristiano Ronaldo‘s employer, Al Nassr, has been linked heavily with Modric. However, a move to Al Nassr seems unlikely, with Modric already having rejected them once in the past.
