Just when it seemed like things were settling down, Monterrey head coach Fernando Ortiz poured fuel over fire ahead of his team’s clash against Inter Miami. Monterrey will host Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami in the 2nd leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup later this week at home. The opening clash between the two sides saw the Liga MX bag a 2-1 win. However, the happenings after the game were all over the headlines the next morning, with Lionel Messi and his fellow teammates butting heads with Ortiz and his assistant, Nico Sanchez.

It seems like Ortiz has no plans of backing down from the drama anytime soon, adding that the Liga MX side has filed an official lawsuit against Lionel Messi and his teammates over the incident. The Monterrey head coach addressed his team’s plans ahead of their encounter against Inter Miami. Ortiz stated, “I’m going to go with a super defensive system… no, just kidding. I continue to repeat. We are Monterrey. We are at home with our fans. Messi should worry about us.”

It seems like Ortiz and his side have no plans to sit back and see Lionel Messi bring his team back into the game. The Herons could be in for an uphill climb tomorrow night with the hosts ready for the challenge. However, La Pulga seems to be set for the challenge with the Inter Miami skipper bagging a comeback goal in his appearance off the bench against Colorado.

The last outing between the two sides saw Inter Miami suffer a 2-1 defeat in Lionel Messi’s absence despite bagging the opening goal. While Tomas Aviles provided his team with the opener in the 19th minute, the tide completely turned with Miami’s David Ruiz shown red after picking up his second yellow in the 65th minute. The additional man advantage allowed Monterrey to make a comeback in the game with Maximiliano Meza and Jorge Rodriguez, leveling two consecutive goals to give their team the lead heading into the second leg.
