Santos president Marcelo Teixeira left everyone stunned during a recent interview. Teixeira, while talking with Football Espana, commented on his side’s interest in Neymar stating, “The conversation (with Neymar) was very quick, but it’s always quick conversations that have good effect. To come back and play here, he needs to recover well from injury. He will continue his experience in Saudi Arabia and then come back here.”

Neymar made a name for himself playing for Santos. The Brazilian star donned the team’s outfit in 142 outings bagging 73 goals and 37 assists. The Brazilian star during his time with the club won three league titles, along with the Copa Libertadores before making his move to Barcelona. No set date for the Al Hilal star’s return

Neymar tore his ligament last year during Brazil’s World Cup qualifying clash against Uruguay. The winger following the injury has been sidelined for an extended duration with reports suggesting the player could return to action before the Copa America 2024. However, the Brazilian medical staff do not wish to take any risks with the player’s recovery which might stop him from making his comeback during the coveted tournament.

Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar provided fresh updates on the player’s injury in an interview stating, “It’s too early, there’s no point skipping steps to recover sooner and taking unnecessary risks. Our expectation is that he will be ready to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe.”
