It has been a long couple of months for Neymar, after sustaining a terrible injury. Being off the pitch may be a letdown by itself, but to undergo it with pain is even more disappointing. After news broke out that he would not play the Copa America next year, Neymar posted a new update, claiming it to be a recovery month of just suffering. However, he also did express his intentions to keep at it and hopefully return soon to where he belongs.

It is not the first time Neymar has taken long breaks from soccer. The player in September 2023 had just recovered from an earlier injury to his right ankle in February. The star missed the UEFA Champions League and the rest of the season for PSG. But it looks like the injury is much more severe now, according to the former FC Barcelona striker.

The injury that Neymar suffered this time is nothing like the one he suffered before. More complex and severe, anterior cruciate ligaments take a longer time to cure. But according to the star’s Instagram post, he has endured the first couple of months successfully after a determined fight. The star posted a photo of him walking slowly with two sticks and captioned the post, saying, “1 month of crying and a lot of pain. KEEP GOING 👑”.

The ACL injury involves a considerable amount of pain, according to medical experts. A tear or disruption to the ligament holding the knee joint usually causes pain in the back and outside of the knee. The player also damaged his meniscus along with the ligament, which could aggravate the pain.

But the star’s update may sound comforting to a certain level for the fans, as he seems to be walking mildly with support. After the initial news that recovery would be a steady and ponderous process, Neymar’s social media post definitely displayed improvement in his condition.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
