Colombian pop star Shakira and Barcelona legend Gerard Pique had a highly documented split. The couple has been the talk of the town for months, with the soccer veteran reportedly cheating on her. The Colombian star took things to the extreme as she released multiple diss tracks at her former boyfriend and lambasted him for his actions. Pique, throughout the entire ordeal, did not prefer to speak. However, it seems like the former soccer star has now decided to open his closed book.

In an exclusive interview with Jordi Baste of RAC1, Gerard Pique touched on what went down with him following his breakup with the music artist. The player also added that people love to say a lot of things when they do not have a clue about the outcome. Pique said that because the fanbase slammed him for months after it was disclosed that the player was meeting his current girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, behind Shakira’s back.

Pique admits to ‘not giving importance’ to public chatter after the breakup

Being on the end of constant criticism, the soccer veteran has preferred taking a backseat and living a low-key life with his current partner. In a recent exclusive interview with RAC1, the Barcelona legend opened up about how he dealt with the backlash. “If I had given importance to everything that is said about me, I would be stuck in my apartment or I would have thrown myself from a sixth (floor). The only way to get out of all this alive is not to give importance to anything. People don’t even know 10% of what has happened.” (Translated by DeepL).

The controversial separation saga with Shakira took Pique to the limit throughout the summer as the Colombian continued to fire shots at him through her global hit songs. Moreover, in an interview, Shakira had shared about the hard time she went through with the breakup and her father’s illness including that Pique did not visit them at the hospital. All of these added up to the public hatred towards Pique. Now, it seems like Pique has completely moved on and is focusing on his current relationship. However, a shocking report about Pique’s affair with Clara came to light recently.

According to a recent report, Pique, who was a part of Ricky Puig’s late-night group, visited multiple clubs during his time in Barcelona. The star immediately fell in love with his current girlfriend and already had a nickname for her despite being in a relationship with Shakira. The soccer star often addressed Clara as ‘My First Lady’ despite being in a relationship with the Colombian pop singer. Pique knew his actions would upset Shakira. Yet, the player continued seeing Clara Chia Marti behind the singer’s back after meeting her at the La Traviesa cocktail bar in 2021.
