Pep Guardiola does not speak a lot about individual achievements. But it looks like Erling Haaland has forced the manager for it with his constant performances. The Spanish manager has finally opened up about the player’s Ballon d’Or contention and has given the road map for the Norwegian to do so after falling short to Lionel Messi. Knocking at a second consecutive Golden Boot in the Premier League seems like Haaland has impressed the City boss.

According to the latest report, Erling Haaland has done a good job in his quest for the Ballon d’Or felt Pep. He reportedly said, “To get to Ballon D’Or Haaland has to play more but his target is to win trophies and that’s what he’s done,” citing the need to focus more on the team’s achievements than individual performances. Nevertheless, the comment reiterated that Haaland is still on the right track in both parameters.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old’s arrival at City seems like a match made in heaven for silverware. Haaland’s goal-scoring prowess was a game-changer for Manchester City, ultimately leading them to secure the coveted Champions League title. Unfortunately for the Norwegian, Lionel Messi’s World Cup win prevented him from winning the prestigious award. The performance from Erling Haaland was nothing short of brilliant. Scoring 52 goals in the entire season, many experts felt he should have won the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best instead of the Argentine.

Meanwhile, the consistency shown by the striker is impeccable. Haaland, apart from a few goalless games, remains the best player in the Premier League this season. Despite being sidelined for two months due to an injury, he is still the league’s top scorer with 19 goals. However, can the talisman replicate last season’s trophy haul and propel himself into Ballon d’Or contention again?

Meanwhile, the club will also need a few other Premier League results to go their way. Trailing the Reds and the Gunners by just one point, the rivals should drop at least a point to keep City in the race. However, not looking too far ahead, Haaland would like to seal the UCL semifinal spot against Real Madrid on Wednesday. And with a daunting task ahead, will City be able to clinch their second treble? Let us know in the comments.
