Portugal went into the game already qualifying for the Euro 2024 in Germany. After being undefeated in Group J, Portugal is also guaranteed a top-spot finish thanks to its captain and record-breaking forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo scores a banger to give Portugal the lead

After a deadlock in the first half, it took Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliance to give Portugal the lead in the 46th minute. After receiving the ball from Diogo Jota on the left, the soccer icon got into the box quickly and drilled the left-footed shot to the top of the net. If he keeps scoring such goals, Portugal holds a significant chance to win the 2024 Euros. Ronaldo is now the joint top scorer of the 2024 Euro Qualifiers with 10 goals.

With 10 goals in the qualifications, Ronaldo surpasses Romelu Lukaku as the joint-top scorer. Lukaku, who left Inter Milan after a successful period, has also been impressive with his national team. He also has 9 goals and an assist to his name. Ronaldo also has one assist to go along with his number of goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s wrong-footed goal was doubled by the number 20, Joao Cancelo, in the 57th minute. The Portuguese won 2-0 to keep their sublime form in the qualifiers intact. The Navigators won all nine matches, scoring 36 goals while conceding only 2.

Meanwhile, Slovakia from their group also cemented its place in the group stages for Germany 2024. With their current form, Portugal can give the other teams in the tournament a run for their money. Even though they are considered to be a relatively easier group, Ronaldo’s dominance cannot be undermined.
