According to the rapper, “When I was young and my grandmother played a lot of Latin music in Spanish I didn’t love it because it was music from the 60’s or 70’s and I wanted to listen to more new stuff”. It was during this time that Cardi B’s love for Shakira blossomed. Cardi B confessed, “I wanted to listen to hip hop or Shakira, something that was newer”.
