“RIP”- ‘Heartbroken’ Fernando Torres Gets Support From David De Gea, Luis Figo & Soccer World While Mourning the Death of His Father

Soccer world stood in solidarity with former Spanish player Fernando Torres after the death of his father. The former Liverpool superstar revealed the news yesterday on his social media. The late José Torres was 73 years old and passed away on Wednesday in Madrid according to reports and was a pillar of strength for Fernando in every walk of his life. Subsequently, amid the loss the player has received messages of comfort and condolences from the fraternity.

Torres posted an emotional message on his Instagram revealing his love for the lost father and thanking people for their support. The message reads, “I couldn’t end this sad day without thanking everyone from the bottom of my heart on behalf of my family and myself for so many expressions of affection and respect towards the death of my father. Dad, I will always keep you present, I love you. RIP.” No additional details have been revealed as the family chooses privacy.

The player kept his family life a low-key profile on social media. However, he had a deep connection with his father with whom he also started his soccer journey in his childhood. The 2010 World Cup winner with Spain has reminisced how José would would play with him whenever he could during his childhood vacations in Gastrar a small village in A Coruña.

Torres Sr had also taken the player to the Trophy Room of the Vicente Calderón, home of Atlético when Fernando was nine years old. In his Amazon documentary, ‘The Last Symbol’, the Spaniard emphasized with gratitude, the sacrifices his parents made to help him achieve his dream. Following his post, many soccer stars gave their support to the legendary striker.

Former teammates and other legends expressed their consolation for Fernando Torres. Portuguese legend Luis Figo who played against Torres in La Liga revealed his love and prayers, writing, “RIP ❤️🙏.”

The Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, where he played the most, also paid their tribute to the whole family citing the difficult period with, “Fernando, to you and your family, all the love in the world in these difficult times from all the red and white fans 🖤.”

Additionally, his compatriot ex-Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea who was his national teammate wrote, “❤️,” expressing his togetherness with Torres in this tough time.

Meanwhile, Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta, along with whom El Niño won two Euros and a World Cup, added, ” 🙏🏻❤️🤍.” 

Beyond soccer, famous bodybuilder Tavi Castro emphasized how Torres was fruitful after his father’s sacrifices. He wrote, “He must have been so proud of you ❤️.”

Senior journalist Mónica Marchante wrote, “A big hug to you dear Fernando. 🙏❤️.”

His former teammate and Irishi icon Robbie Keane also expressed his prayers for Torres and said, “❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏.”

Fernando Torres had a legacy that has been a major influence on the younger soccer stars. He was not only spectacular for his clubs, but also for the Spain national team. He helped Spain lift the 2008 and 2012 Euros with significant performances and was also part of their 2010 World Cup-winning team. The credit for such an incredible career can be attributed to his father and the player will carry his memories for the rest of his life. RIP, José Torres.
