Well, it looks like work is no excuse to miss your favorite club’s game, and Wrexham AFC‘s co-owner Rob McElhenney has made sure you won’t have such misfortune. In a hilarious attempt to lift a fan, McElhenney dropped a magic portion on one of the club’s fans by giving him a medical certificate for ‘a weird cough or something‘. But why and how did he do this?

Wrexham AFC, which plays in the EFL League Two, has reached the 4th round of the FA Cup this season. The excitement of watching the team cannot be contained by the fans. There seemed to be a major block they were facing, Monday, which Rob, in his sovereignty, made sure was dissolved.

Rob wittingly became a social media health expert when a fan asked him to provide a sick note to watch the FA Cup game. He instantly obliged, posing as a doctor, and posted a social media note that could not hold back readers from laughing. His note read, @Wrexham Canada is hereby excused from work on Monday, January 29, 2024. They have a weird cough or something.” The note continued with bizarre twists and turns.

It continued saying, “If that’s not enough of an excuse, let’s go with the flu. Wouldn’t you hate to catch it if they showed up to work in that condition? They are cleared to come back on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Oh, I think that happens to be the day after the Wrexham match. Weird timing. Best Wishes, Dr. McElhenney“, he penned, after which he joked about being a real doctor!

(Don’t Google my credentials, just trust me. I’m a real doctor)“. The question initially asked by @WrexhamCanada was, “Hey @VancityReynolds, @RMcElhenney and @Wrexham_AFC can you provide me with a sick note for work so I can watch the match on Monday? #WxmAFC.” The club will take on former Premier League giants and six-time FA Cup winners, Blackburn Rovers, at Ewood Park.

Rob’s drollery on social media is not nascent. The star started the new year by trolling a hateful X account and saying he’d still be a fan despite repeated hate being received. In another instance, the 46-year-old posted a photo of himself watching a Wrexham game with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively last and claimed to be an interrupting fan in front of them. Humor aside, his club has a great shot to make it big from here.

Wrexham has been in scintillating form this season, being second on the EFL League Two table. Additionally, the confidence of the Hollywood duo’s club will be high as this is the 4th consecutive FA Cup 4th round they’ve progressed to. However, they have not gone past it since the 1996–97 season and will look to make the most of this opportunity against the Rovers.
