Tottenham Hotspur is currently thriving under the management of Ange Postecoglou. The club seems to have a direction to follow on and off the pitch under the Australian manager. However, a few seasons ago, things went haywire at the club. In a podcast, José Mourinho gave an example of how his sacking was handled 2 days before the final.

Spurs fans were also surprised at the decision of the club so close to a cup final. However, it is a decision chairman Daniel Levy will hope not to make in the future as these decisions certainly do not end well.

In the 2020/21 season, Tottenham Hotspur took a huge gamble two days before their Carabao Cup final. They decided to sack manager José Mourinho after a streak of poor results. The Spurs immediately announced assistant Ryan Mason would take over for the final. Now, in a podcast with his former Chelsea player Mikel John Obi, Jose Mourinho gave a classic response on being sacked. This was a club that, has an empty trophy room, then sacks me 2 days before a final, I mean… come on,” he said. The decision also frustrated Jose as he had previously won all four finals in the competition

In the end, the gamble did not pay off for the London club. They lost the final against Manchester City 1-0. The scorecard did not show the true domination of the Sky Blues. It looked like the players also did not expect Daniel Levy to make such a decision. The wait for the trophy goes on for the Spurs. They will hope that Ange Postecoglou will be the answer.
