In the second week of July, Cristiano Ronaldo & Co were handed a 5-0 thrashing by La Liga mid-table side Celta Vigo. This scoreline surprised many as they didn’t expect the big names of Al Nassr to falter so badly. This result hence drew a comparison between the SPL and the MLS on which league is tougher. The 5 times Ballon d’Or post-friendly was quipped this question and he immediately chose his league without any remorse. “The Saudi league is better than MLS,” said CR7.

While the report mentioned cited SPL’s ambitions to be in the Top 10 leagues by 2030; Ronaldo believed that Saudi could achieve that feat in the next year itself. The former Juventus talisman predicted that SPL will overtake Turkey and the Dutch league in the coming 12 months. “In one year, more and more top players will come to Saudi. In a year the Saudi league will overtake the Turkish league and Dutch league,” Ronaldo added.
