Gerard Pique invites LaLiga president for the Kings League’s final stretch

Gerard Pique announced retirement from professional soccer in November of last year. In the process, the legendary defender gave up millions of his outstanding Barcelona salary and bonuses. The Kings League was born last year, and earlier this year, we saw a successful winter split. However, La Liga president Javier Tebas wasn’t impressed with the idea and slammed the new venture labeling it as a circus. Tebas said that the league is incomparable to La Liga and is full of streamers as club owners. Tebas added, “I hope you will ask me this question in six months, let’s see how much we talk about the Kings League.”

And exactly six months later, the former Blaugrana defender has fired back with a tweet. Pique wrote“Six months ago of this,” tagging the article regarding Tebas criticism. He further wrote, “Javier Tebas, come to the Metropolitano tomorrow to see if they keep talking about Kings League. We’ll have a good time! You’re invited.”

It will be interesting to see whether Tebas attends the Kings League final on July 29.
