After the soccer world got over mourning the loss of Brazilian soccer legend Pele, the soccer world is again experiencing massive heartbreak as the French soccer legend Just Fontaine passed away hours ago. The 89-year-old Reims and PSG legend took his last breath and left the soccer world crying. The legendary soccer player had many accolades to his name. Some of the records Fontaine held sound unbelievable.
The legend had played 248 soccer games in his senior club career playing for USM Casablanca, Nice, and Reims. Playing as the striker for his team, he scored 226 goals in those matches. And is still one of the high scorers in the history of Reims. However, he only played 21 games for France but still holds the record for being the highest scorer for France in the World Cup.

Despite being forced to retire at the age of 28 due to a double leg fracture. He remained among the best players to ever lace his boots for France. Despite only playing in one World Cup tournament, he remains the highest-scoring player for France in the prestigious tournament. Scoring 13 goals in just six matches, He single-handedly took France to the semifinals where Pele would score a hat trick to win the match for Brazil. Both Reims and PSG have issued statements on the passing of the legend. Reims said, “A star of French football, an outstanding striker, a legendary Reims player.”
Just Fontaine was responsible for taking PSG to the first division. The French champions issued a statement stating, “A thought for Just Fontaine. An icon of French football who has left us.” In 2004 Brazilian soccer legend Pele included him in his 125 greatest living footballers list.

In 2014 he received the Golden Boot for his performance where he said, “I am very proud to receive this shoe, unique, that’s good because I too am unique, and the guys next to me who give me the prize, are unique”. Thousands of fans are praying for the eternal peace of the soccer legend and trying to cope with the loss.
