Phil Foden had a fantastic season in the Premier League. The midfielder has been a nightmare to the opposition and carried Manchester City all the way despite injuries to other key players like Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne. Hence, he was rewarded with the league’s Player of the Season 2023-24. After conning multiple defenders on the pitch, it now looks like a random person on social media has tricked the midfielder.

Foden, after winning the award, received a lot of praise on X (previously Twitter) and one of them reportedly seemed to be from former teammate and Chelsea player Cole Palmer. And when the City star intended to return the favor to Palmer who won the Young POTS, but funnily it turned out to be a fan account leaving Foden silent. A screenshot of the conversation was shared by another X news account KinG £. Subsequently, the 23-year-old is claimed to have deleted his tweet after being swindled.

Both Foden and Palmer know each other and their capabilities pretty well. Having grown through Manchester City’s youth ranks together, they were deemed geniuses by former academy coach Darren Bowman. Palmer has been a stalwart for the West London club currently. Adamant to leave Pep Guardiola’s side last season, the 20-year-old was the only one giving a fight to Erling for this year’s Golden Boot scoring 22 goals in 32 games. In addition, he also helped his teammates net another 10 goals.

After receiving the award, Phil Foden acknowledged the vital role he played by saying, “Overall, I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season.” But the treble-winner has proved why he was voted the best player. While his 17 goals and 8 assists were impressive, it was the timing of his goals that truly impacted the team’s success. Foden scored two match-winning hat tricks for the Sky Blues apart from his brace in Manchester Derby which has kept them alive until the last game day against Arsenal.

Moreover, the City winger also won FWA Footballer of the Year earlier, but his focus will be on tomorrow’s game against West Ham United. Guardiola’s side are a win away from lifting their fourth title on the trot and a loss or even a draw will mean that rival Arsenal would lift the trophy. And with all the individual accolades in the pocket, a title win will be paramount for any soccer star.
