Manchester City had been dominating the last few years of the Premier League. But their recent results have emerged as a cause for concern for their fans. Pep Guardiola’s men have lost a few important points that could hamper their chances of topping the table this season. But a sudden dip in what’s happening could indicate something fishy, as per a former player.

The team was in a pretty similar situation last year, but it fought its way back to win the league last season. However, things look different inside the team feels like one of its ex-legends. Does it ring an alarm for the treble winners?

It was Pep Guardiola’s third consecutive draw in the Premier League. The team has not gone on such a streak of draws in quite some time. City were not able to hold on to the goal advantage. The last draw against Tottenham Hotspur led to a former City player criticizing the club’s performance on the pitch. Micah Richards called out the City team for their shortcomings. He said, “There’s something just not right at Man City.” They’re too easy to play on the counterattack too many individual mistakes again.”

The team had a goal advantage twice in the game but could not bury the game at crucial stages. Spurs took advantage of a midfield lapse when a pass did not reach Erling Haaland. The error led to the Spurs leveling at 2-2. Earlier, Son Heung-Min took advantage of the city’s weak defense to score the first goal for the visitors at the Etihad Stadium.

Micah Richards pointed fingers at City’s back line, noting down the ease at which the counters seemed to break the defense. The Sky Blues even lost their advantage for the second time in the 90th minute. Dejan Kulusevski proved to be too strong for Nathan Ake after he powered the header into the top left corner. The former City defender also pointed out how the team lacked the decisiveness to close out games.

Moreover, Micah also highlighted one key aspect that the City team lacks at the moment.

The reigning Premier League champions lack “concentration,” according to Micah Richards

This 3-3 draw takes City to third in the league. On the other hand, Liverpool faced a similar situation against Fulham, winning 4-3 after being 2-3 down. However, Pep Guardiola saw a similar nightmare to that of games against Chelsea and Liverpool. City conceded late-deciding goals to both teams earlier, giving them a chance to come back. The Manchester club could have taken home all three points if not for a refereeing error in the closing moments of the game but there’s no point in dwelling on it.

Michal blamed City’s lack of concentration, saying, “Seeing out the game at the end there, it’s all about concentration. You have to concentrate on the key moments, and they didn’t do that.” The team will inform Aston Villa next Wednesday and look to close in all the gaps before it gets too late.

One take at a time

Growing up in a sporting background, I found a passion for soccer through the remarkable 2002 World Cup-winning Brazilian football team. Watching the Premier League where Thierry Henry-starring ‘Invincible’ Gunners and Sir Alex Ferguson’s glorious Manchester United had ruled, I had my heart set on Arsenal. However, Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho are my favorite players and Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
