The ICC shared the heartwarming conversation between David Beckham and Sachin Tendulkar on their official Twitter handle. While talking to Tendulkar, the 48-year-old detailed his experience of playing cricket with kids in Gujarat. Beckham said, “I used to play [cricket] at school but then obviously I focused more on football. Strangely enough I felt more comfortable with the bat in my hand than did with the ball at my feet.”

Beckham’s comments were very much astonishing for many, as it was least unexpected that the soccer legend would feel more comfortable with a bat than a ball. He further detailed the fun he had while playing cricket. Beckham added, “I got the sweep you know. I got a few pointers from some of the young kids but I enjoyed it and then they all started singing six six six.” 

From the words of the Inter-Miami owner, it is clear that he thoroughly enjoyed playing cricket with kids away from his homeland.

The soccer legend came to India for three days to fulfill his duties as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. It was his first visit to the country, and he reached Gujarat and met numerous underprivileged children who were under the guidance of UNICEF. Beckham gleamed with pride as he was part of a noble program. He wrote on Instagram, “An incredibly special few days with @unicef here in Gujarat. It’s a great privilege to see first-hand the work UNICEF is doing on the ground to support children and their families.
