Speaking on ESPN FC, Frank Leboeuf, a known figure in Chelsea’s history, did not hold back in his assessment of Pochettino’s reign. He believes that instead of seeking reinforcements in the January transfer window, Chelsea’s boss should focus on developing the young players already at the club. Leboeuf claimed, “He had to take responsibility when he signed, accepting the role and saying okay, I’m going to try to do something with these players. But we all knew at the end of the season it would be the same thing because they went into something that’s unbearable to resolve.”

The former Chelsea star further emphasized the difficulties of integrating a large number of new players into the team, questioning the required experience to play.
“It’s impossible because you signed too many talented young players but inexperienced,” Leboeuf explained. “You get rid of the experienced players, and now you want to do the trading business again. So it’s going to take time, but you have to accept the fact that you’re not able to play like the others or like you used to play.”
Mauricio Pochettino urges Chelsea to turn to the transfer market again
Mauricio Pochettino, however, remains adamant that Chelsea need to strengthen their squad in January. He believes that the team lacks a clinical edge up front and that further investment will bridge the gap between them and the top teams. “This was a game to win. It’s a problem we need to check. We need to talk and to try and improve in the next transfer market,” Pochettino stated after the Everton defeat.
Despite Chelsea’s colossal expenditure of $1.3 billion on new players over the past 18 months, Pochettino’s demands have surprised many. The major question that remains now is: should Chelsea delve into the transfer market again, or is it time for Pochettino to look within the squad and find solutions?
